Again, a 60 peg sell-out but as always, some anglers didn’t show despite the favourable conditions. Temperature on the day was 10C with a light breeze. Winner on the day was Mark O’Neill (Larford) who drew peg 3 on the Specimen Lake. Mark chose to fish the method at distance with waffter hook baits, landing carp and bream to weigh 69-13-00 to clinch a place in the March Grand Final. A full 60 peg sell out turned out at the popular Barston Lakes. Conditions on the day gentle breeze with highs of around 6C. Winner today was retailer, Martin Taylor (H.T. Angling) who drew peg 17. Martin approach was the method feeder and waffters fished at distance which rewarded him with carp and F1’s for a weight of 59-13-00 and a place in the March final. 2nd overall was Ivan Winch from peg 16. 60 peg ticket sell out although, due to freezing conditions, 10 anglers failed to show. The match went ahead even though the weather forecast tipped sub-zero temperatures. Fortunately, the temperatures remained above freezing so the ice breakers stayed in the cars. Winner today with a fine weight of 92-01-00 was Marcus Frost who drew peg 21 on Oak Lake. 60 peg sell-out for this latest qualifier, conditions for the match were difficult with highs of just 4C, no breeze and very low water temperatures. Needless to say bites were difficult to come by. Most of the field found the first two hours the most productive with odd carp to double figures and a few quality bream to both the method and open end feeder. Again another full house of 60 anglers competing for a place in the March 2019 Grand Final. Conditions on the day were not favourable with near flat calm conditions and highs of just 3C. This additional qualifier supported by 33 anglers made up for the shortfall of anglers from the previous Gold Valley qualifier. Conditions on the day were a mild 11C, overcast with a north-westerly breeze. The lakes were clear, as a substantial amount of rain had started to restore levels towards winter normal. It was debatable, today as to where it would be won as all week, both lakes were wind and rain lashed with levels starting to creep back to normal winter levels.
