Golden Reel Championship Qualifier No1 Partridge Lakes Saturday 1st April 2023

Lakes – Covey 1-5, Spey, Marsh & Willows.

A near sell-out with 92 anglers fishing todays qualifier.
Conditions were bright with a cool wind and highs of around 12C

First qualifier through to the Grand Final was Fish O champion Kristian Jones (RW Floats, Blakes Baits) with a very impressive 171-2-0.
Kristian caught on maggot shallow and meat short, landing F1’s and carp from peg 6 on Covey 1. A brilliant performance, rewarding him with a finalist place in the September Grand Final.

Second on the day with 162-0-0 from peg 10 on Covey 1 was Jack Howarth (Leigh tackle & Bait).
Jack fished casters shallow at around 10m, catching F1’s and carp. Jack is rewarded with a semi final placing so in the running for a Grand Final spot.

Third to frame was James Howarth (Guru) from peg 92 on Covey 4.
James bagged a fine bag of F1’s and carp that scaled in at 146-0-0 and puts him through to the semi final.

Fourth overall was Ian Burley (Tricast) from peg 2 on the Willow Lake.
Casters fished shallow netted him 142-6-0 of carp and F1’s fished at around 12.5m.

Fifth to frame was Mark Tregear from willow peg 1.
Mark fished pellet shallow at 7m, landing F1’s and carp to weigh in 126-10-0

Finalist – Kristian Jones 171-2-0
