An excellent attendance for the second Golden Reel Qualifier.
Conditions today were bright warm sunshine with highs of around 14C and a gentle breeze.
Winner today and progressing to the September Grand Final was Steve Freeman.
Steve drew peg 24 on Magpie and fished meat short in both his left and right hand margins, landing a superb bag of carp and F1’s that scaled in at 313-2-0.
Second on the day was Ben Townsend (Matrix) who drew Magpie peg no 36.
Ben also fished tight to the reeds in the margin on meat, weighing in 304-0-0 and a qualification spot in the semi final.
Third to frame was Jimmy Brook from peg 23 on the Magpie Lake.
Jimmy dobbed for most of the match, landing 30 or more carp and F1’s and later switched to his edges catching some decent edge fish to weigh in 233-4-0 and qualify for the semi final.
Fourth placed James Taylor drew peg 9 on the Jay lake, finishing the day with 179-6-0, all caught on meat fished shallow tight to the far bank. Later switching to his margin and catching some decent edge fish on meat.
Fifth overall was Tony Evans (Decoy) from peg 2 on the Raven Lake. Tony caught on the meat short and to depth, weighing in 172-12-0.
Sixth paced Pete Upperton drew peg 47 on the Jay Lake, weighing in 154-4-0 of carp and F1’s all caught on meat shallow and to depth.
