Well that’s it! The last qualifier of the 2021 Golden Reel Championship campaign finishing up at Larford Lakes.
With just one finalist and two Semi Finalists remaining, it was all to play for.
Conditions on the day presented a high pressure change and with very heavy overnight rain and thundery conditions, it was never going to be easy.
That being said, it was Andy Christie who grabbed the last automatic qualification placing with a brilliant 225-7-0 from peg 15 on the Match Lake Burr.
Andy fished tight down his edges and also chased carp swimming shallow to secure his victory and a place in the September 11th Grand Final. Most of his catch came to caster shallow.
Second place Carlos Passeira has already made it through to the Semi Final so 4th place takes a Semi Final spot.
Carlos drew peg 32 on the Specimen Chalet bank catching a few carp on pellet waggler and later down his edges on both method and pole to weigh in 160-1-0.
Third on the day was Keith Pentland from peg 17 on the Match Lake Burr. Keith caught on banded hard pellet and corn down his edges to weigh in 146-12-0, and a place in the September 1st Semi Final.
Fourth overall and also grabbing a Semi Finalist place was Steve Roberts from peg 18 on the Match Lake Burr.
Steve caught on hard pellet to depth and later down his edges weighing in 123-3-0.
So we have our 24 finalists and 48 semi finalists.
