Conditions for qualifier No 20 were better than the previous few days with a drop in temperature to around 20C, overcast with a gentle breeze.
That being said, there was a high pressure showing so the fish were swimming shallow on all the lakes. The pools fished were – High, Arles, Front Dean and Back Dean.
Sixty anglers turned out all looking for a final spot if possible with only 5 qualifiers remaining, the qualifiers left are certain to be well supported.
Winner today was Aidan Mansfield (MAP / Bait Tec) with 172-4-0 from peg 30 on High.
Aidan fished down his edges for most of his match, fishing pellet.
Aidan has supported the Golden Reel event, attending a substantial number of the qualifiers and is now rewarded with a finalist place and a crack at the life changing £50,000 in September.
Second overall was Simon Richardson (Fatty’s / Dotem down) who drew peg 10 on Arles.
Simon fished caster shallow and later down his edges with maggot landing 153-14-0.
Third on the day was Chris Cameron (Middy / Bait Tec) from peg 36 on Arles.
Chris fished pellets and corn down his edges to record a carp and F1 catch of 150-6-0.
Fourth in the frame was Jimmy Brooks (Preston / Sonu Baits) with 143-0-0.
Jimmy drew peg 8 on Arles and chose to fish pellet shallow and later caster down his edge to weigh 143-0-0.
Fifth overall was Stu Campbell with 138-0-0 from peg 34 on the high pool.
Stu fished pellet and corn down his edges.
Sixth to the frame was Sam Parker (Steven’s Tackle) with 131-0-0 from peg 41 on Back Deans.
