Lakes – Match & Specimen
Conditions for this latest qualifier was near perfect with bright skies and highs of 22C.
A good breeze on both lakes and fish swimming shallow with carp and F1’s down all the margins.
Tactics today were clearly pole shallow and pellet waggler.
Winner today and progressing to a second Golden Reel Final was Dave Roberts who drew peg 1 on the Specimen burr bank.
Dave fished the pellet waggler and pole shallow with pellet and waffters landing some early carp and then later down his edges with dead reds over ground bait.
Dave finished the day with 18 big carp that weighed in at 298-1-0 so his carp averaged at around 16 ½ Lbs per fish.
That being said, his best fish of the day weighed in at 26 ½ lbs.
Second on the day and qualifying for the Semi-Final was Chris Sanderson with 275-9-0.
Chris drew peg 24 on the Match Lake and fished short and down his edges with meat.
Also catching some early fish on the pole shallow to finish the day with a superb bag of carp & F1’s
Third placed Jamie Hughes (Matrix) drew peg 22 on the Match Lake and fished pellet and corn down his edges and also had a good run of fish on the long pole shallow with pellets.
Jamie also qualifies for the Semi-Final with a carp and F1 catch that weighed in at 255-12-0.
Fourth placed Andy Christie drew peg 20 on the Match Lake and fished meat tight down his edges weighing in 223-8-0 of carp and F1’s
In all, 6 weights over 200lbs were recorded with 12 100lbs+ weights also recorded.
