Lakes Beastie, Cedar, Yew, Oak, 6 Islands & Elm
Qualifier number nine with Decoy Lakes hosting this latest qualifier with an attendance of 82 anglers taking part.
Conditions were bright sunshine with highs of around 24C and little or no breeze. Following heavy spawing the week prior to the match, we were expecting a difficult match with many of the resident carp swimming shallow.
However how wrong to think that the weights would be low, with no less than 42 of the field recording over 100lbs.
Winner today with a massive 364-7-0 was Jordan Holloway (Preston) from peg 8 on 6 Island Lake.
Jordan fished the long pole all day feeding nothing and fished shallow with pellet landing some large carp and F1’s to book his place in the September Grand Final.
Second placed Chris Barley drew Oak peg 3 and also fished shallow all day with caster landing 355-15-0, just 8lbs short of the overall winner.
One more carp would have given him an automatic qualification placing. Chris however automatically qualifies for the September Semi Final.
Third overall was Jon Whincup from peg 3 on Cedar. Jon fished long & shallow with caster to record a massive 352-10-0 and a Semi Final placing.
Fourth to the frame was England International Alan Scotthorne (Drennan) from peg 24 on Elm.
Alan fished long and shallow to record a superb 262-2-0.
5th in the match was Andy Power (Preston) with 260-11-0 from peg 24 on Oak, Andy fished casters shallow.
So in total Decoy produced 3 weights over 300lbs, 10 weights over 200lbs and 29 weights over 100lbs.
What a match!!
Our thanks to Decoy for hosting an excellent qualifier as always.
