Very cold conditions for this latest qualifier. A hard early morning frost registering just -3C, followed by clear sky’s and temperatures rising to just 8C at best.
Also a stiff easterly wind to cap it off.
Winner today and progressing to the September Grand final was Tom Newton who drew peg 23 on the Moat Outer Lake.
Tom fished the long pole shallow all day with pellet shallow landing 101-13-0 of prime carp.
Second on the day was Lewis Mifsud from peg 28 on the Moat Outer Lake.
Lewis fished down his edges with worm hook baits over ground bait, weighing in 78-10-0.
Lewis now goes through to the Semi Finals.
Third placed Ryan Bennett (Mossella / Quaker) has already secured a place in the Semi Finals so passed the semi to 4th place.
Ryan drew peg 14 on the Moat Outer and fished the method tight to the far bank with waffter hook baits weighing in 77-11-0 of carp.
Fourth placed Matt Butler drew peg 108 on the Moat Outer, weighing in 77-6-0, all caught on the method, fished tight across with waffter hook baits.
Matt qualifies for the Semi Finals.
Fifth to the frame was Andy Kinder (Maver) from peg 30 on Moat outer.
Andy was unlucky not to qualify as his swim was disturbed by the rescue of another anglers pole at a time in the match when bites were coming fast.
Andy finished the day with 64-9-0, all caught on the method, fished tight across on waffter hook baits.
