The final qualifier of the Golden Rod Feeder championships saw a full 60 angler turn out with reserves hoping to grab a last chance to qualify for the prestigious March Grand Final.
The final match fished well with both the Specimen and Match Lakes producing plenty of carp, bream and F1’s.
Overall winner on the day was Danny Bache (Bag’em) who drew peg 2 on the Specimen Lake.
Danny fished the perfect match and focused on carp fishing the hybrid feeder with micro pellet and washed out waffters at distance. Danny landed 12 carp for a total weight of 119-07-00 and a place in the Grand Final.
Second overall was Ian Giddins (Frenzee / Bag’em) who drew peg 74 of the specimen Chalet bank.
Ian struggled fishing long on the method but later switched to his edges to find quality carp landing 105-14-00 to waffters and corn.
Third overall was Garbolino’s Simon Fry who drew fancied peg 28 on the Match Lake.
Simon made no mistakes catching on the method cast 2 yrds from the point of the island.
Fishing hard banded pellet and waffters, Simon landed a superb bag of F1’s and carp to tip the scales with 99-07-00 and an overall zone win putting him in the March Final.
Fourth placed Kieron Rich (Middy) was unlucky on to make the final as Kieron found some big early carp from peg 82 on the Specimen Lake but later in the match his swim died.
Kieron landed fish to 22lbs but sadly didn’t make the final. At the scales, his weight was 95-04-00 all caught on the hybrid feeder with pellet and waffters.
Fifth overall was Prezmek Solski who has been so close to qualification on a number of occations.
Falling just short again from peg 18 on the Match Lake with 84-05-00 of carp Prez caught on the method with pellet and waffters.
