63 anglers booked onto the first of the 2019 qualifiers hosted at the fantastic Viaduct Fishery. Conditions on the day were good with highs of around 13c and a gentle easterly breeze.
Lakes used today were Campbell, Lodge, Carey and Match.
First angler from the 24 qualifiers was Mark Wynne (Sensas MS Angling) with a weight of 188-00-00.
Mark drew peg 115 on the Campbell Lake and chose to fish the straight lead with hard pellet and shallow on the pole fished long with hard pellet.
Mark finished the day 12lb clear of his nearest rival, booking his place in the prestigious September Grand Final.
Second overall was Jason Hale who drew peg 68 on the Lodge Pool.
Fishing most of his match down the edge with pole and baiting with pellet and meat to land an all carp catch of 176-04-00, just 12lbs off a winning place.
3rd to the frame was James Roper (Tricast Woodlands) with an all carp catch of 151-09-00.
James drew peg 113 on Campbell and fished both the long and short pole with pellet to depth.
4th overall was Nick Chedzoy (Preston, Thatchers) with a weight of 150-11-00 from peg 64 on the Lodge Lake.
Nick fished long pole and pellet to depth landing a fine catch of carp and a few bream.
5th in the match was Dan Hook from peg 81 on the Carey Lake.
Dan landed 140-12-00 all to bomb and pellet.
6th in the frame was Rob Harbour (Frenzee) with 131-15-00 from peg 49 on the Match Lake.
Rob fished most of his match down the edge with pole and hard banded pellets.
Our congratulations to Mark Wynne as the first angler of the 2019 campaign making his way to the Golden Reel Grand Final in September.
