Golden Reel Championship Qualifier No 10, Partridge Lakes, Saturday 4^th June 2023

A blistering hot day here at Partridge Lakes with temperatures reaching a burning 30C with little or no breeze.
Needless to say, fish were swimming shallow and difficult to catch.

Winner today and progressing to the Grand Final was Lee Thornton (Middy) from peg 18 on Covey 1.
Lee fished shallow, slapping with meat hook bait and landing 60lbs of good carp in the first hour of the match.
He continued to catch on this method adding carp and F1’s and later fishing to depth down his edges, finishing the day with 245-6-0, 80lbs clear of his nearest rival.

Second on the  day and making the semi finals was Dan Bennet (Shimano) from peg 121 on Covey 5.
Dan fished caster shallow landing carp and F1’s to finish the match with 164-5-0.

Third to frame and also qualifying for the Semi Finals was John Turner from peg 156 on Covey 6.
John fished caster shallow all day, landing 110-0-0 of carp and F1’s.

Fourth overall was Jonathan Rigg from peg 2 on Covey 1.
Jonathan landed 103-8-0 of carp and F1’s, all caught on the caster shallow.
