Lakes 1-9
Hosting the latest qualifier was the mighty Glebe complex. Conditions on the day looked favourable with mainly overcast skies, a stiff breeze and highs of around 20C.
Winner today and topping the 100 peg sell-out was Sam Brown (Maver / Evolved Baits) from peg 85 on lake 5.
Sam chose to fish the long pole down his edge with pellets and later down his edge shorter with dead reds over groundbait.
Weighing in 220-1-0 of carp to 10lbs and progressing to his first Golden Reel Grand Final.
Second on the day and pressing the overall winner to the wire was Simon Skelton (Dynamite) with 213-10-0 from peg 83 on Lake 5.
Simon fished down his edge for most of the match fishing dead reds over groundbait.
Simon automatically qualifies for the September 9th semi-final.
Third placed Jason Dunworth was so close, yet again to making his first grand final.
Drawing peg 100 on lake 7, Jason fished tight across with the feeder plugged with micro pellet with dead red maggot hook baits.
His overall weight of 210-14-0 was enough to secure a semi finalist placing so still in with a big shout to make the September Grand Final.
Fourth to the frame was Tony Coates (T&N Floats) from peg 86 on Lake 6.
Tony caught short on 6mm pellet and down his edges weighing on 200-14-0.
Fifth placed Rob Taylor (Guru / Mainline) drew peg 115 on Lake 8 netting carp and bream to weigh in 193-15-0.
Rob’s simple approach of edge fishing with corn, kept quality carp coming all match.
Sixth in the frame was Zak Brown (Preston) from peg 101 on Lake 7.
Zak fished long pole shallow with casters landing quality carp and a bag of good bream that weighed over 80lbs giving him a total weight of 169-14-0.
A superb qualifier with over 25 weights over 100lbs plus four weight over 200lbs.
A credit to Roy Marlow and his staff.
