Todays qualifier presented strange conditions with highs of around 20C but breathless and humid. Clearly a high pressure had set in and fish could be seen everywhere cruising but very difficult to catch.
Winner today and progressing to the Grand Final was former England International, Des Shipp (Preston) who drew peg 62 and the Lambsdown Lake.
Des fished a brilliant match catching 50lbs+ of bream hard on the deck with luncheon meat. Then a change in tactics as Des resorted to a shallow rig on meat which produced some fine double figure carp and approx. 100lbs of carp.
Later in the match deciding to look at the short line, Des found some more big carp that tool his weight to 240-10-0 at the scales.
Second overall and grabbing a semi final placing was Josh Palmer who drew peg 1 on Lambsdown.
Josh fished bomb and pellet and later down his edges fishing maggot over ground bait to finish the day with 235-14-0
Third to the frame was Jon Arthur from peg 4 on Lambsdown.
Jon has already qualified for the Semi Finals so this pass to 6th placed Kirstian Jones.
Jon weighed in 167-8-0 from peg 4 on Lambsdown, catching a fine bag of carp to shallow tactics and later bomb and pellet.
Fourth overall was Warren Jennings from peg 2 on Lambsdown. Warren has already booked a Semi Final placing.
Warren’s weight of 163-12-0 came to the pellet waggler and bomb & pellet.
Fifth placing Jamie Hughes (Matrix) weighed in 133-8-0 all on the long pole and shallow rigs from peg 27 on Lambsdown.
Jamie also has previously secured a Semi Final placing.
So in 6th place and grabbing that all important Semi Final placing was Kirstian Jones with a weight of 124-4-0.
Next qualifier – The Glebe , Wednesday 6th July, draw 9am.
