Golden Reel Qualifier No17 Barston Lakes Saturday 9th July 2022

Conditions for this latest qualifier was difficult with highs of around 25C, strong breeze with bright sunshine.
It was also a pretty breathless day with fish swimming shallow and difficult to catch.

Winner today and progressing to the Grand Final was John Jones (Middy / Burt Baits) from peg 18 on the river bank.
John fished at 16m slapping all day. Fishing a banded 8mm pellet and feeding very little, John went on to land 219-4-0.

Second on the day was Steve Openshaw (Mossella) who drew peg 17.
Steve also fished long & shallow all day with pellet hook baits weighing in 207-8-0.

Third to the frame was Callum Dicks (Maver) from peg 14.
Callum fished at 16m with banded pellet shallow landing 199-4-0 and a well earned placing in the September Semi Finals.

Fourth placed Neil Carless also qualifies for the Semi Finals from peg 14.
Neil fished long & shallow with pellet weighing in 178-4-0

Fifth overall was Carl Brooks from peg 21. Carl fished long and shallow with pellet weighing in 161-8-0
