A pleasant day for all the competitors with a warm 22C, gentle breeze and clear skies throughout the day.
Winner today was Ben Townsend (Matrix / Spotted Fin ) from peg 22 on the Oak Lake.
Ben fished a simple match fishing hard pellet down his edges all day landing a brilliant 228-13-0 of carp and securing his place in the Grand Final on September 12th.
Chasing Ben was Jimmy Brookes (Preston / Sonu baits) from peg 30 on the Beastie Lake.
Jimmy caught most of his carp catch fishing shallow with pellet weighing in 218-2-0 falling short of qualification by just a couple of fish.
Jimmy however, is rewarded with a Semi -Finalist place on Wednesday 9th September with a big chance of making the final.
Third overall was Richard Kerridge (Browning) also securing a Semi-Final placing with 190-14-0 from peg 13 on the Elm lake.
Richard fished dead reds over micro pellet down his edges.
Fourth in the frame was Tom Cole (DT Floats) from peg 17 on the Elm Lake.
Tom fished worm down his edges landing carp and barbel for a total weight of 186-4-0.
Fifth overall was Callum Dicks (Maver) from peg 15 on the Cedar Lake.
Callum caught most of his carp tight down his edges with hard pellet weighing in 180-2-0.
With the last qualifier taking place at Larford Lakes on Saturday 5th September and the Semi-Finalist competing for the two additional finalist places, it’s still all to play for.
22 finalist will soon be decided with a cheque of £50,000 awaiting the overall winner.
