Golden Reel Qualifier No 20, Larford Lakes, Saturday 5th September 2020

Match & Specimen Lakes.

90 anglers turned out for the final qualifier of the Golden Reel 2020 campaign.
With just the Semi-final to stage on Wednesday 9th September, where two further anglers will qualify for Saturday’s Grand Final making a Grand final of 22 anglers fishing for the massive £50,000 first prize.
Conditions for the final qualifier were difficult with near flat calm conditions, muggy with highs of 22C and a definite pressure change.
Fish were swimming shallow and difficult to catch with little space for the anglers due to the size of the entry.

Winner today and progressing to the September 12th final was Gareth Gronow who drew peg 72 on the Specimen Lake. Gareth fished a brilliant match catching on bomb & pellet and pellet waggler.
Also targeting the bream with caster to depth over ground bait landing a good bag of skimmers and bream to boost his carp catch to a match winning 154-0-0.

Second on the day was Chris Lane (OAC) who drew peg 26 on the Match Lake.
Chris fished pellet down his edges for most of the match landing quality carp and F1’s for a total weight of 146-11-0.
Chris qualifies for Wednesday’s Semi-final.

Third on the day was Dan Bennett (MAP) from peg 48 on the Match Lake.
Dan fished bomb and pellet and short on 6mm pellet to weigh in 145-15-0 and a place in the Semi-final.

Fourth to the frame was Stuart Fotheringham from peg 17 on the Match Lake.
Stuart fished a method, he does well fishing the bomb & pellet to land quality carp that tipped the scales at 136-5-0.

Fifth overall was Phil Canning (Newfish) from peg 37 on the Match Lake.
Phil fished 6mm pellet shallow landing 123-9-0 of carp and F1’s.

Sixth placed Dave Wright drew peg 18 on the Match Lake and fished bomb & pellet and the pole with pellet recording an all carp catch that weighed in at 111-0-0.
