A full sellout for this qualifier at Barston Lakes. Conditions were awful with a cold northerly wind and heavy showers.
Needless to say the winter conditions affected the lakes badly and bites were difficult to come by.
Winner today and progressing to the September Grand Final was local angler John Jones (Middy / Burt Baits).
John drew peg No14 on the river bank and caught on short to start with but later switched to the method feeder long with waffter hook baits landing 99-5-0 of carp and F1’s for a comfortable win.
Second overall was Fran O’Rielly (Frenzee / Bag’em) from peg 15.
Needless to say it was a battle between Fran and the winner but loosing a carp estimated at 18lbs plus cost him a place in the Grand Final.
Fran fished short on the method & waffters weighing in a level 81-0-0.
Fran automatically qualifies for the semi final.
Third placed Matt Godfrey (Guru) also qualified for the semi final with 61-4-0 from peg 118.
Matt fished the method long, catching carp, bream and F1’s.
Fourth in the frame was Zac Brown (Preston) from peg 63.
Zac fished the pole down his edges with meat weighing in 54-4-0.
Fifth placed Darren Mills drew peg 18 on the river bank and fished the method feeder long with waffter landing 44-8-0.
