Lakes :- Canal, Bridge, Island, Meadow and Match.
Conditions today for the 16th Qualifier of the 2019 Golden Reel Campaign was near perfect with highs of around 22C, partial sun but mainly overcast and a gentle south westerly breeze.
Fish were caught today both shallow and to depth with loads of F1’s and carp making up the catches for the 56 strong field of competitors.
Winner today was Ryan Bennett (Matrix – Halifax ) who drew peg 1 on the Bridge Pool.
Ryan fished a faultless match, fishing at around 6m with maggot shallow.
Feeding heavily for the full duration of the match, Ryan found quality F1’s plus the odd carp to finish the day with a very impressive 273-14-0, earning his place in the September Grand Final at Larford Lakes.
Second place on the day was tied between Andy Power (Preston) and Sam Slockett (Preston), both weighing in 257-8-0.
Andy drew peg 44 on the Meadows Pool and fished shallow all day at 6m with casters as did Sam Slocket who drew peg 17 on the Match Lake.
Sam fished longer at 13m and both landed big bags of quality F1’s.
Fourth overall was John Hannam from peg 21 on the Canal Lake.
John fished caster shallow at 6m, landing some good carp and big F1’s registering 255-6-0 at the scales.
Fifth placing went to Mitch Rawlinson from peg10 on the Match Lake.
Mitch fished at 14m with caster shallow to record 221-2-0 of prime F1’s and carp.
Sixth overall was Mikey Williams (Guru) with 211-8-0 to caster shallow from peg 11 on the Canal Lake.
Barry Bush was next to the frame with 199-10-0 from peg 9 on the Island Lake.
Barry fished caster shallow at 11m.
In all, 25 weights over 100lbs were recorded and 5 weights over the magical 200lbs.
